1. What is this Web Portal about?

State Portal is a Mission Mode Project under the National E-Governance Plan developed by National Informatics Center, Tamil Nadu State Centre and was launched in 2013. The objective of the Portal is to provide a single window ‘Any Time, Any Where’ access to the information and services of the State Government.


2. What does a Web portal for a State mean?

It acts as a single window to all the Services provided by the Government. All the Announcements, Press Releases and Government Orders can be accessed from this single Portal.


3. Is this web portal GIGW compliant?

Yes. This web portal is GIGW compliant.


4. Does this website comply with all accessibility options?

Yes. People with disabilities can use this Web Portal easily. Accessibility options are provided at the top of the page. Options such as Font increase, Font decrease, Colour Schemes and Contrast black and white theme screens are provided.


5. What is Web Accessibility?

Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can use the Web. More specifically, Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web, and that they can contribute to the Web. Web accessibility also benefits others, including older people with changing abilities due to aging.


6. Who is maintaining / updating this Web Portal and how frequently?

This Portal is a CMS based on a work flow basis and each Department is appointed with a Nodal Officer to update the contents of this Web Portal. National Informatics center is the ‘Publisher/Super Administrator’ and the Super Administrator publishes the content into the web server. However, the authenticity of the content only lies on the Department. The website is updated 24 x 7 on all days.


7. Can I view this Web Portal in all devices?

Yes. This Web Portal is created using Responsive Web Design (RWD) and is compatible with all devices.


8. Are there links to Online services of all Departments?

Yes. The list of all the State Government Departments and their services are available from the Services Tab and they can be accessed from there.


9. How do I contact individual State Offices?

The contact directory of all the State Offices are listed under the Contact Directory.


10. Is there a list of State holidays?

The Calendar facility displays the list of State Holidays. Also a link to the relevant Government Order is available.


11. Does the website have public centric information?

All the information provided in the Web Portal are public centric only.


12. Can I download various forms of all Departments?

Yes. Forms of all the Departments are provided in pdf format and are available bilingual also. They can be downloaded from the ‘Forms Tab’.


13. Does the website list procedures on how to apply for various beneficiary schemes provided by the Departments of Govt of Tamil Nadu?

Under all the schemes listed, the procedure on ‘How to apply’, Documents required etc are listed.


14. Can I pay property / water taxes / EB bills online through this website?

No. Links to corresponding websites are provided. No e-payments can be done through this Web Portal.


15. Can I download the G.Os issued by the State Departments?

All Government Orders that are of public interest are listed in the Portal under the Department Categories.


16. How can I get to know about the day to day activities / Announcements issued by the Chief Minister and the Ministers?

All the latest Announcements, Press releases / Press statements are listed under What’s New page


17. Can I send a RTI query through this website?

No. You cannot send a RTI query through this website. But links to RTI website and information related to it are provided.


18. What are the Online Services available through this portal?

All the Online Services made available by the Departments are listed under the Services tab.


19.Is there any information on employment vacancies for Government Jobs?

Yes. Link is provided to the Job vacancies across all the Departments of the State Government.
